The Best Feeling

For some people, the best feeling in the world is savoring the drops of rain on their faces, or watching the sun as it sets in the horizon, or waking up to the smell of freshly brewed coffee, or simply cuddling with a loved one in front of the television. While I love and would love to experience all these, the best feeling in the world for me is keeping my eyes open and battling sleep when I desperately want to finish reading a book.

Have you felt that way before? You want to close the book because it’s already midnight and your classes start at eight in the morning but you just got hooked on a scene. You’ll say it will be the last chapter you’ll read for the night. And when you finish that chapter, you’ll read one more because it’s just that good. Your eyes start to itch because it’s starting to tire and your vision starts to get blurry but you fight the urge to sleep because there’s only a few more pages ’til the end. The moment you close the book you will let out that satisfied sigh– the way you always do after reading a great book–and look out your window. That’s when you notice that the sun is starting to rise and you’ll remember your eight a.m. class and you think that you should probably be freaking out because you will be getting less sleep and probably be groggy the whole day. But instead of feeling the regret of wasting a good night’s sleep, you lie in bed and let the covers shower you with their warmth. You feel your muscles relax until you fade away into dreamland, the remains of the book you read are in the corners of your mind, lulling you into that blissful sleep.

For me, that’s the best feeling to have. Being absolutely carefree in reading and so much absorbed in the story that I don’t even have to think about anything else but the story. I love the feeling of getting lost in a different world where I can forget about the worries of my world. If you haven’t experienced reading until the wee hours of the morning, then you haven’t experience life at all.

So… Allegiant is out today. I am so excited to read it but I’m going to reread the first two books first but I feel like I want to read it on paperback and not on my device so I’m going to wait until December to read it. Bummer for me because I’ll only get money in December. That’s a long wait so… I’m going to be absent on a lot of my SNS especially tumblr because it’s going to contain a lot of spoilers for me.

I’m giddy with excitement. December should come already!

Book Fund

Well as all of you know, the 34th Manila International Book Fair is to be held next month. I’m starting to save money for that and hopefully, I’ll have more money to add for my book splurge. I just hope I don’t get too excited and buy other things. I already have a list of books to buy, too.

Although I wouldn’t really buy everything on the list like the Divergent Boxed Set since Allegiant is not yet out and I would love to buy the set if it’s already complete. Plus, I don’t think I have enough money saved for too many books.

So yeah. For the next month, I’m going to be kuripot.

Book Fasting Pledge

Here is my post, for a pledge on book fasting. But first and foremost, let me just say…

I JUST BOUGHT A NEW BOOK!!! Behold an addition to my shelf: My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick

I went to SM Bacoor earlier because I’m going to buy pens. Unfortunately, I did not buy a pen because there was no Dong-A 0.3 refill. I was about to go out of National Bookstore because I really REALLY do not want to be tempted to buy a new book like Anna and The French Kiss, Lola and the Boy Next Door, or Thirteen Reasons Why. But then, this book caught my attention and I immediately grabbed it from the shelf. I was actually looking for other copies and found none. IT WAS THE LAST COPY.

So what did I do?

I bought it, of course.

I have already read this story and I loved it. That’s why I have no regrets in buying it. Plus, it was the first time I saw it selling in a Filipino bookstore and seeing it was the last one, I took the opportunity and grabbed it. Literally. So now I have a new addition to my shelf and I am poor for the next week or so.

As for my book fasting pledge, I am pledging to refrain from reading from today, August 5, 2013 up to August 18, 2013 for I need to concentrate on my studies and study for our midterm examinations. I have a lot of catching up to do with certain subjects so pleasure-reading is a big no-no for the said dates.

I hope I get to achieve this pledge. Books are my greatest seducers.
